Description
This gift advocates for Financial Independence for Women. Sharmin is an inspiration in her community. After a transformative 15-day green jobs training program, she and other women from marginalised urban areas now create beautiful jute products, including lunch carrier bags, ladies’ bags, handcrafted items, wall-mats, and penholders. The green jobs training program has empowered women with essential skills, fostered economic independence, and promoted sustainable practices, transforming lives and communities through the creation of eco-friendly products. “We are now self-dependent, we have the determination to go a long way with our work” – Sharmin. This example reflects the types of projects that could be funded when you donate through Unwrapped. Valuing Women’s Work. The story outlined in this gift is an example of the type of project your donation will help fund. All the money you donate when buying this gift will support projects in the Valuing Women’s Work category. Oxfam’s Valuing Women’s Work programmes support women to push for respect, fairness and dignity at work, and to end gender-based violence in the workplace. This means pressuring local and national government for lasting changes that will make things equal for women, as well as ending discrimination and harassment through law. Your donation supports Oxfam and our partners in making work fairer for women across the world, including unpaid care workers here in the UK. Thank you so much for your generous donation!
