Description
This gift advocates for Safe Education for Girls. Girls like Jillo in Kenya are reclaiming their dignified education. Menstruation once meant missing school and isolation. Merti Integrated Development Program (MID-P) and Oxfam have worked together to support Jillo and millions of other girls, with resources that put choices about their health and wellbeing back in their hands. In Jillo’s region of Isiolo, Kenya, over 1,000 girls have received reusable sanitary towels and training, enabling them to stay in school, get an education, and fight the stigma of growing up a girl. “Girls are attending school without any fear. The level of stigma has gone down dramatically.” – Cecilia Otwan. This example reflects the types of projects that could be funded when you donate through Unwrapped. Valuing Women’s Work. The story outlined in this gift is an example of the type of project your donation will help fund. All the money you donate when buying this gift will support projects in the Valuing Women’s Work category. Oxfam’s Valuing Women’s Work programmes support women to push for respect, fairness and dignity at work, and to end gender-based violence in the workplace. This means pressuring local and national government for lasting changes that will make things equal for women, as well as ending discrimination and harassment through law. Your donation supports Oxfam and our partners in making work fairer for women across the world, including unpaid care workers here in the UK. Thank you so much for your generous donation!
