Description
This gift advocates for Safe Education for Girls. Girls like Jillo in Kenya are reclaiming their dignified education. Menstruation once meant missing school and isolation. Merti Integrated Development Program (MID-P) and Oxfam have worked together to support Jillo and millions of other girls, with resources that put choices about their health and wellbeing back in their hands. In Jillo’s region of Isiolo, Kenya, over 1,000 girls have received reusable sanitary towels and training, enabling them to stay in school, get an education, and fight the stigma of growing up a girl. “Girls are attending school without any fear. The level of stigma has gone down dramatically.” – Cecilia Otwan. This example reflects the types of projects that could be funded when you donate through Unwrapped.
